Carl Jung … he just knew about God

carl-jungWhat is striking with Carl Jung is his joyful  nature and ever young temperament; amazing to see how fresh and lively he still was at the age of 84. All his life, he showed passion and determination, fearlessness, and an unusual intuition which guided him towards absolute discoveries as he was able to capture the truth on the most illusive field: the human psyche.

He was a Self-realized personality, which explains his natural interest for life in all its aspects; his spontaneity; his logic and clarity of mind; his ability to trace connections and to listen to his inner voice of intuition; and ultimately his genuine talent in realizing the integration between so far-fetched fields of knowledge and creativity which in these days were almost unknown and suspected by the human mind.

Carl Jung recounts his first experience stepping into the awareness of the Self when he was 11 years old… He talks about his childhood, his natural strength, and his ability to study and investigate a subject in depth. To the question “Do you believe in God?” he is simply surprised: why should he believe, “I know” he says. (This is symptomatic of a Self-Realized person who has realized the existence of the Self or God.  He is no longer in the moving sands of faith).

What man really fears in death  is : could death be the end of all? So here, Jung replies he has good reasons to assume death is not the end of all, because there is a layer of our psyche which is not limited by space and time. Moreover after analyzing older people, he could observe there is no real fear of death in their deep being, which would point to the rooted knowledge of a continuation beyond death. He also remarks that people who always look forward to the great adventure of life, mindless of their age, live longer than those who are afraid and lingering in the past.  Finally he concludes: “Man cannot stand a meaningless life”. We can trust he has good reasons to say that.

When asked about the future of the world, he could feel the urgency of a radical change in our psychological attitude, so critical because we cannot afford knowing nothing about human nature, the playground for evil forces, making man the greatest danger on earth.  His position about evil is clear. There is evil, do not play it down… Since there is an Absolute reality behind all things, there can be knowledge or ignorance about it for man is free to choose between the two. Ignorance is the field for anti-evolutionary / destructive forces which take advantage of the freedom given to man to push him into complete destruction. Bottom line: the course of human destiny is about evolution or destruction.  Exactly as Shri Mataji used to say it as a joke… using the metaphor “how many ways are there in London?” “Only two: left or right”.

Since connecting to the Self, also known as "auto" who creates and coordinates all in me & out… enjoying his gracious company through meditation and throughout the day, like Candide I have been cultivating my (inner) garden, marveling at the fascinating resonance between within and without, the subtle and the gross… What a wonderful world!
